This summer, restaurants throughout Germany will show the Soccer Eurocup, on big outdoors screens. Lots of people will be gathering in public viewings. The tournament is taking place here, and the German Team needs to win it. (Let’s keep’m happy!)
Full disclosure: I traditionally root for the Swiss team, until they’re out (first round), then for the team opposing Germany.
Spring is finally here and summer’s around the corner. Everyone’s hungry for the sun. The sun has so many benefits, and it lays the ground for some distraction. Distraction is good for people who take things a tiny bit too serious. (I‘m not pointing at any Nationality in particular…)
This year, the sun’s timing couldn’t be more perfect:
City centers in Germany look much prettier in the sunshine.
People without a garden get to grill in public parks.
The sun will shine more light on evildoers, hopefully reducing some harm, worldwide.
A lot of still lingering post-covid anxiety will be burnt away.
Kids will go outside more, to relax from high-strung overnight discord accompanied online gaming with friends
Europeans have had it with winter, which was full of bad news - the sun will promote a feeling of hope
Thanks to the warm weather, anxiety about high energy prices is temporarily reduced
Germans are a bit hopeless towards this Government’s ability to address the real problems - so, bratwurst, beer and games are desperately needed
Dope has now been partially legalized and the streets are starting to carry a very distinct perfume. Those rainbow colored, happy-sheep-wool, self-knit Covid Masks can be put to good use again. And, German Döner Kebab shops will finally stop pretending to be unprofitable and will need to start paying taxes
Thanks to lots of open-air events, local artists might get a fairer share, than before. After digitalization had shifted their whole income to silicon valley techies, like Spotify, it is dearly needed. And, after Covid, people are now much more willing to pay for live performances
The word „remote“ in remote work is slowly being taken more literally. „Remote“ now even meaning somewhere within the borders of the European Union, where nature is abundant.
So, grab a book and go outside. Read some German or Swiss authors, they’re good!
Here’s a recent one: “Melody”, by Martin Suter.
Or a classic:
I am positive this young generation is fully ready to solve all future challenges ahead!
And, now stop staring at your phone - look up! There’s a great summer waiting for us.
Thank you for reading. If you feel you’ve had enough of my Stockholm-Syndrome, for now, don’t worry, I will be agonizing again, soon. If you’re not sure, what this was about, listen to the following short audio.
